Flagstone and Slate Floor
These types of floors are natural stone floors, but are porous and rough. You will need to seal the floor to prevent stains. Varnish and lacquer will not work as sealants. Here is how to clean flagstone and slate floors:
- First thing you need to do is clean the floors thoroughly with a neutral purpose cleaner.
- Next let the floor dry. You can then either seal the floor with a solvent or water base sealer. Water base is what I recommend if you’re doing this indoors because it doesn’t have the odors of a solvent base.
- Once it’s all cleaned and sealed just sweep on a daily basis and flat mop or string mop an a weekly basis with a neutral floor cleaner.
